Food Bank of Delaware Approved for DSHA

Neighborhood Assistance Tax Credit

Food Bank of Delaware received approval for the DSHA Neighborhood

Assistance Act Tax Credit

The Food Bank of Delaware’s food distribution programs and culinary program

received approval from the DSHA to participate in the Neighborhood Assistance

Act Tax Credit for the 2008 and 2009 tax years.

The Neighborhood Assistance Act (NAA) Program encourages businesses and

individuals who pay Delaware state income taxes to invest in programs serving

impoverished neighborhoods or serving low- and moderate-income families.

In exchange for a qualified contribution, the NAA provides state tax credits equal to
50 percent of the investment. Each year a maximum of $500,000 in tax credits is available statewide. The maximum tax credit available to any taxpayer is $100,000.  The minimum contribution for an individual is $5,000 and for a business, $10,000.

The DHSA recommends that donors consult with a tax professional prior to making a gift for NAA credits.  For more information on this program, please visit http://www.destatehousing.com/services/ot_naa.shtml or call Anne Killeen, Development Director, at 302 292-1305 ext 236.
