How Backyard Gardening Helps the Hungry

Produce donations help the Food Bank distribute nutritious foods to Delawareans in

need. We accept produce donations from all sectors - growers, farmers and backyard

gardeners!

Backyard gardening does not have to be difficult! Experienced growers can plant large
in-ground gardens and raised gardens, while newcomers can start with small
container gardens.

Surplus produce can be donated directly to Delawareans in need. Donations can be

dropped off to the Food Bank's warehouse in Newark or Milford, Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m.

to 4:00 p.m. Is our location not convenient for you? Call us, and we'll

help you locate nearby hunger-relief agencies. Please contact Jim Weir at (302) 444-

8073 or jweir@fbd.org.

Gardening is also a great activity for kids! It encourages healthy eating, fosters scientific

exploration and community service! Click here for more information about kids' gardening.
